We've certainly made up for our cool spring with some awesome summer weather. We've just finished our fourth wedding this summer............congratulations to the wonderful couples we've have had the privledge of hosting at our Ontario Lakeside Resort!

It may sound a little overly sentimental, but we always feel very honoured and privledged to host such a profound celebration as marriage. (I guess we are just a little bit old fashioned!)

WOW!!!!! After a cool damp spring, it seemed everyone was just begging for some real summer weather...........and we have certainly not been dissappointed!!! Another 30+ degree day here at Northridge! But we're not worried........Lake Bernard is such a wonderful, clean spring fed lake, uncluttered, quiet and with a wonderful sandy shoal around the perimeter.

Thanks so much to one of our recent guests for providing us with this photo showing our view from our beach and one of our guests out on a kayak. I think they've got it figured out!

The heat just keeps building!!! Currently they are calling for the better part of a week in the high twenties! Looking for a great place to cool off?????? Consider lakeside on the sandy shores of Lake Bernard! This exceptionally clean, large and quiet lake has a wonderful shallow sandy shoal around the edge and is deep, cool, and clear in the middle.

It is in fact "the worlds largest freshwater lake without an island" and is documented as such in Guiness's world records!......Really!!! It also supports a natural population of beautiful lake trout and whitefish, along with some bass and perch. These populations are not stocked, but are naturally self sustaining and the Ministry of Natural Resources actually uses Lake Bernard as a model of excellence for other lakes in the area.

Our north Muskoka lakefront resort really is blessed to have access to over 1300ft of southern lakeshore on this unspoiled gem!

Unfortunately spring is being a bit stubborn this year, but Lake Bernard has been ice free for a week or two........and although winter does bring a pristine white beauty to the area, it's really nice to hear the gentle lapping of the waves at the shore again! By the way, National Geographic has chosen Muskoka as the number one summer destination! (Watch for our press release!)

Geographically Northridge Inn and Resort is just beyond the northern border of Muskoka, but often our guests tell us that being slightly farther north on an expansive but quiet lake reminds them of what Muskoka used to be!............we'll take that anytime!!!

Well it certainly is incredible how quickly the winter is going by............but great news.......we just received another huge dumping of snow!! The trails for dog sledding and snowmobiling are still in wonderful shape, so come on up to Northridge and experience it........it won't last for long now!

The winter wonderland has arrived everyone! Our hearts do go out however to everyone that has struggled with some of the exceptionally harsh winter conditions in Ontario (Sarnia, Washago). Hopefully that was just an isolated incident for the winter. Up here at our Northern Muskoka Resort.......it has just been just about perfect! Lots of snow, temperatures that are keeping things crisp without being too harsh........it is truly beautiful right now.
We still have some availability for a great New Year's Eve package as well! Check it out here!

Each year we cut our own tree and try to plant a couple of replacements in the spring or fall. This year we simply found a spectacular one! Here's a close up of it!

This past spring Northridge Inn and Resort were privledged to host members of the National Ballet of Canada! These talented and gracious artists were bringing performances to the lucky children of local area schools. (Click on the National Ballet of Canada link above to see photos and comments from the guests on their stay and performances)
It was a rare treat indeed to host guests with such diverse backgrounds, as some of the artists were international in their background. We can honestly also say that if there is any truth to the whole "prima donna /diva legend", we certainly didn't see anything to support it!

Well, we've been getting some fantastic hot weather this May weekend here at our Ontario Resort! Hope this keeps up! After living on the edge of Lake Bernard here at Northridge Inn and Resort, you really do get spoiled! The lake is like an ever changing postcard in the different seasons and throughout various weather patterns. It is really a privledge to be here year round at this north Muskoka location......Here are some shots of the sunset we watched right in front of our Lakeside chalets just a few days ago............Amazing!

Who would have expected snow now!!!! Mother nature continues to show us who is in charge! But spring has definitely sprung and that little blanket of temporary snow has not detered the blooms that are off to an early start here at Northridge.........enjoy! Well.........FINALLY!!!! THE SIZZLE OF SUMMER HAS HIT........! Here at Northridge, we often don't even mind the odd rainy day. It has a nice quiet introspective feeling, the soft hiss of the rain on a still lake, the ever shifting clouds like a postcard come to life......but even we have had enough of the cool rainy weather!

So nice to feel some heat! Meet you at the beach!

As we're sure everyone knows, we've certainly had our fair share of rain and cool weather so far this year! But on the bright side, we've rarely seen such a lush landscape in August, when things are usually drying out. The perennials and native plants are just loving it as you can see by our Irises and the lushness around our patio!

Well it seems from a weather point of view, summer is still struggling to make a strong showing.......but let's keep our fingers crossed for August! Here at our Lakeside Resort, located just north of Muskoka, we aren't letting it put a damper on us though!

The pool is heated, the hot tub is rockin' and the beach is looking great. We're also very proud of the staff this year as we believe we have some of the best people we have ever had here helping out......a great thanks to all of them. The plates coming out of the kitchen are looking exceptionally delicious!

We've also renovated a number of our rooms, invested in beautiful new patio furniture and even re done some of the public spaces. So come on up and visit.......we'd love to show you the new changes!

Well, summer this year seems to be a bit on the reluctant side in breaking in, but despite the somewhat cool start, the views from our Muskoka North Resort across the lake have already provided some spectacular sunsets and sunrises. This sunrise is looking just beyond our dock and the wild flowers are right beside our parking lot.......nature at her best!

Wow............summer is already gone, and fall is on it's way out! But what a summer and fall it has been here at Northridge Inn and Resort! Although things got off to a slow start with the spring and summer weather not really cooperating, the late summer and fall definitely exploded.

Once again Brenda, Adrian and I have been overwhelmed by the wonderful diversity of guests that cross our threshold. This season we definitely noticed more international guests at our Muskoka North Resort! (Ireland (you know who you are!), England, Iceland, Spain, France, Italy, just to name a few).

We were also lucky enough to host a number of wonderful couples, as well as their families and friends as they chose our Ontario Resort for their weddings.........thanks to all and keep in touch!

Now that we have had our first real heat wave, everything we have been waiting for has arrived!

The rhythm of lake against the shore, hazy afternoons at lakeside, the smoky aroma of grills, the wave of the odd boater drifting by.............. and most notably..........the warmth of the smiles of our guests, new and old. We're looking forward to seeing everyone again and, of course, meeting those who haven't previously graced the threshold of this Ontario Muskoka North Resort!

Well, summer has definitely hit!!!

With the recent heat wave, the lake has started to warm up, our perennials are bursting open, and of course the real sign that summer is upon us........our new summer menu is in place!!

We are once again very pleased to feature regional Ontario products when ever possible. This year we have kept some of the best and introduced some new plates that feature the Ontario Northern Muskoka Resort experience!

Fresh Spring lamb kabobs, Ontario Duck Breast with a black cherry gastrique, a Lake Trout and asparagus open ravioli, are some of the new ones. But of course our signature frenched rack of free range elk and medallions of venison (with a wild berry reduction) are back by popular demand.

As we head into a somewhat reluctant spring here at our North Muskoka Ontario Resort, we thought it would be appropriate to think back on what a terrific winter it was this year. Besides all the great snow and trails, there was some pretty great ice fishing going on right here on Lake Bernard!

What a terrific winter it has been this year for all the Great Canadian outdoor activities at our Ontario resort! Great snow, temperatures that are keeping things crisp without being too cold....and the long term forecast looks good well into March!

Whether you're looking to snowmobile, dogsled, ice fish, or just snuggle by fireside with some excellent dining and a visit from our registered massage therapist.......now is the time!

Great thanks to our guests that were gracious enough to share one of the great lake trout catches they pulled from our own Lake Bernard......hope to post some pics of that catch soon!

Although we have always taken great pride to make the dining experience here at Northridge Inn and Resort exceptional.......kudos go to our current kitchen and dining staff for their great contributions to our latest offerings.
We continue to emphasize regional cuisine with rustic but beautiful plates, and service that is attentive, but wonderfully relaxed.
Our current plates, some of which are pictured below, have been designed to showcase the finest ingredients available. We also always offer wonderful free range chicken, trout, venison, steaks, prime rib and vegetarian whole grain pastas. Our desserts are simply sinful, and chocolate is presented in ways that shouldn't be discussed openly!!!!!!!!
To round it all out, we also carry some wonderful vintages that are not available through the LCBO.
Not to be overlooked in the slightest, we pay that same attention to our children's menu, featuring some of the kiddy classics, as well as some tasty healthy new classics such as whole wheat turkey wraps, veggies with dip, etc..

With a wonderfully hot and dry spring, it feels like the middle of August here on the shores of lake Bernard. The heat is keeping the bugs away this year, and in the years that we've owned our Muskoka North Inn, we can't recall a better June for the lack of black flies!

Everyone seems to be loving the new fleet of kayaks we've launched this year. We did quite a bit of homework to be sure that we introduced ones that are as user friendly as possible for the novice. With the expansive shallow sandy shoal that skirts our lake, it is a great place to try out your paddling skills!

The lake is warm, the bugs are gone, the kayaks are waiting and the sunsets are stunning.....so come on up for a visit....... Our Ontario Resort and your new friends are waiting!

No Snow???........No Problem! Even with winter conditions being less than perfect, Northridge's guests wouldn't let that interfere with a great New Year's Eve Celebration! Rick Robichaud had the place rockin' to the wee hours, our planned sleigh ride turned into a wagon ride and a timely dusting of snow gave us the serene beauty of white so special at this time of year. By the way, a very special congratulations to the special couple that got engaged in our out door hot tub ( you know who you are!)....we've never seen a couple that was more fun together!!

We realize noboby probably wants to hear it, but Fall is only a short distance away! It's all good though....stunning colours, great weather, specially priced packages at our lakeside resort...and all that without the crowds of summer. In fact High Rock Road along the shores of Lake Bernard was cited last year as one of the top ten locations to view fall colours! (Walking distance from our resort)

Our final August wedding has now been completed and once again we were stunned by the warmth of the couple and their families and friends! The weather was absolutley perfect for the ceremony at lakeside on our dock and even the BBQ style rehearsal party the night before.

It is simply incredible that August is slipping away so quickly here at our north Muskoka Resort! The sultry evenings on the Beach are still here for now though......and everyone here intends to make the most of it. Our summer here has exceeded our expectations by far! After three years of owning and operating our resort (the Inn had been totally closed up for two entire years when we purchased it in 2003) we are now experiencing an incredible number of return and word of mouth guests!
If you haven't already done so, it is still not too late to enjoy the sand inbetween your toes.....Late August is wonderful for warm water, a lack of bugs, and all the heat of summer!

Northridge Inn and Resort was very proud to host the Burk's Falls Art Club Show at the end of July this year. The Inn was full of wonderful paintings of all types and media, jewelry, sculpture, photography, and even unique flower arrangements!
The turn out was fantastic and we wish to extend our sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Club, and our guests for allowing Northridge to participate in such a wonderful event!

The weather this summer at Northridge has indeed been unusual. It seems that whenever it rains, it pours!! Despite some of the devastating storms just north and south of us, we were very fortunate here at our lakeside resort to have been spared any damage of concern!
The weather here has certainly provided some spectacular shows with incredible lightning storms out on the lake, but perhaps even more satisfying has been the healthy amount of rain that has kept everything green, lush and has really coaxed our perennial gardens into their best show of colour ever!

With this heat wave that we are experiencing, there is no doubt that Northridge Inn and Resort is the place to be! Whether on the lake with the fishermen, or in the lake with the swimmers, it is somehow Oh so much more tolerable in the clean air and cool water. (Besides, all our units are air conditioned!!!!) Summer lakeside weddings at Northridge are truly exceptional. We were once again honoured to host some of the most wonderful couples along with their families and friends. The ceremonies held right on site here make the celebration incredibly profound. We are always amazed by the way an incredible hush falls over the staff as they see the bride for the first time and experience the profound committment of two people beginning to share a life together.
Whether the ceremony is out on our pier in the lake, barefoot in the sand on our beach, or on the grounds in front of the Inn at lakeside, the intimacy of the moment, although shared with family and friends is something that leaves a lasting impression on everyone here. Our lakeside North Muskoka Resort is situated perfectly to be host to an incredible array of wildlife. Lake Bernard, although a comparatively large lake, is underdeveloped and very quiet. It is common to be able to sit our on our beach all day and only see the odd little fishing boat chugging by. Our guests tell us that we are what Muskoka used to be!!! Lakefront, pristine, abundant wildlife, clean water, and a beach that goes on forever! Here is a shot of some of our friends that seem to be as home right on our resort grounds as our guests are!

On the Canada Day weekend, Northridge Inn and Resort was proud to host the great Blues Duo of Aaron Garner and "Mr. Chill". You may recognize "Mr. Chill" as past member of the well known recording artist Big Sugar. This installment of our "Blues, Brews and BBQ's" concert series was definitely one of the best yet!
With a BBQ that included slow roasted ribs, Lobster and Venison....awesome rockin' blues, and fireworks sparkling across the lake.....could there be a better way to celebrate our great Canadian Heritage??!!

Spring has sprung.....and summer isn't far behind! Our intimate north muskoka resort is already showing signs of spring in our perennial gardens...(just new last year)! The snowmobiler, dog sledder, and Canadian adventure winter wonderland is about to give way to the the long sultry days of summer and the warm long evenings of a lakeside northern ontario resort.
But before we get to summer there is still spring to enjoy!! We have several muskoka resort style weddings to host, a wonderful family reunion, and on the May 24th weekend the second in our "BLUES, BREWS AND BBQ'S" series........can't wait!!! Each season brings so much to our intimate resort.....each spectacular in its own way.

Northridge Inn and Resort has just successfully completed it's first "BLUES, BREWS AND BBQS!" This great package featured the smoking blues and guitar virtuoso of Wild T and the Spirit. Tony "Wild T" Springer has played with legends such as David Bowie, Jeff Healey, and has appeared on Letterman, Leno and Arsenio Hall! What a great opportunity for our guests to see him in person right in our own Resort, and what a show they put on......at times the guests were in a state of total frenzy!!
The package was completely sold out and we unfortunately had to turn many away! We will be offering these dates often however, and always featuring great blues and jazz artists.....so visit our Whats New/Special Packages page when you can to see whats on the horizon! This will eventually lead to our Blues Festival.......date to be announced! Hope to see you there!!!!!!

Here at Northridge Inn and Resort, the snowmobiling season is begining to come to a close. Our snowmobilier friends were great to see and although snow was rare to the north and south of us, our north muskoka resort had incredible snowmobile trails and great riding all season long!!
